Living room makeover with Havenly -- The concepts

When we bought our first home last summer, I was so excited to finally have the freedom to update, improve and decorate to my heart's content. But combine my somewhat challenged eye for interior design, having an entire house to do as compared to a smaller apartment and the fear of spending money on furniture I'm committing to for years and I had nowhere to start. I knew I wanted to take it one room at a time, but also knew I needed some help. Enter, Havenly.

First, a little bit about them. For $199, you get to make over any room in your house with one of their fabulous interior designers. We chose the living room. You send them your inspiration, wants, needs, likes, dislikes, any current furniture you're keeping/want included, etc. and they take it from there. I worked with Julianne, who I basically ended up dumping every thought I've ever had about a living room on. She was amazingly patient and knew exactly how to reign in my scattered ideas to create something that made actual sense. I sent her tons of inspiration (aka late night messages with things that would pop into my head) and she totally nailed my aesthetic. Oh, and it's all done online! All you have to do is send them dimensions and room photos. Super convenient!

And it's not just all about looks. It had to be functional! Sofia plays there, we like to relax and watch TV, and it's also an extension of our dining room so we wanted it to be great for entertaining. My must-haves included more seating, some extra storage and ideas for making the left side of the room useful. With all that in mind, she sent over the first two concepts:

Concept 1

Concept 2

She was spot on with my love for a neutral palette and I was starting to get so excited when I thought about how it would look in our space. I ended up taking elements from both concepts for the designs (because, indecisive) and asked her to swap out a few items that I loved but were a bit too pricey for our budget. She also gave me some additional rug options because I'm somewhat neurotic when it comes to picking one.

Since furniture and decor are expensive (and our Christmas tree was taking up the place of the shelving unit haha) we're still putting the finishing touches on the design. I'll be sharing the final design and big reveal in the coming weeks and can't wait to show you how it turned out! You can get a sneak peek here and here.

In the meantime, I'd definitely suggest checking out Havenly if your space needs a bit of a refresh. I can't say enough good things about their designers and how easy it was! They also offer mini makeovers for $79, which is perfect if you want a different perspective on something but are limited by funds, space, renting, etc.

What do you think of the designs so far and which rug do you think I ended up with? ;)

Thanks to Havenly for partnering on this post.
