Tuesday Temptations: Fall layering

Ah yes, that awkward time of year when you have absolutely no idea what to put on your body. You can no longer leave the house in your lightweight shirtdress at 8 a.m. without a cardigan in tow, but you certainly can't justify a full on chunky knit when the afternoon highs are still flirting with the 80s.

Fortunately, layering has gotten a whole lot more interesting lately. This fall, it's all about longline pieces. So lots of sleeveless trench coats, dusters and vests that hit well below the knee. (Real life: you won't see me rocking a ton of this because, well, I'm 4'10" and a sweater with a train just isn't cute. But I still love the look and will be on the hunt for pieces that work for my height.) If the longline thing isn't your jam, go for a cozy sweater cape/poncho (this one is my favorite). Mostly because it's basically like wearing a snuggie out in public.

There are also soooo many good lightweight coats and jackets so I threw a couple of my favorites in below (including the one I just ordered). Outerwear is kind of my weakness and I always end up buying a ton of new pieces each fall and winter. What can I say, I enjoy options.
