Trends are a funny thing. One day you're convinced it's just a passing fad and the next you're scouring the web for the exact thing you said you'd never wear. This wasn't necessarily the case (at least not personally) with the resurgence of mules and clogs for spring. Especially since they're so. much. better. than they were in the 90s and, when I say clogs, I don't mean anything close to Crocs. #Shudder. But I'm definitely surprised that my initial reaction to them wasn't a negative one.
If you think about it logically, mules are really the next natural step from cutout booties. Stay with me here. Shoes that were once completely closed now have cutouts on the sides and the back, giving ankle booties a totally new, bad-ass vibe (which I love, btw). It only makes sense, then, to cut out the entire heel for the warmer weather and, while we're at it, let's make it a peep toe as well. And just like that, you're wearing mules and are okay with it. Makes sense, right?
Either way, this is one spring trend I'm totally loving and can't wait to snag a pair for myself. If you're thinking of doing the same, my suggestion would be to steer clear of anything with a high platform. This will differentiate between the faux wooden-heeled Candie's you used to wear and the sleek grown up version. Check out some inspiration for how to wear them above, and shop 14 of my favorites below. And feel free to share your thoughts on this in the comment section -- I'd love to know what you think!

Nope, I can't do it! I spent too many bad years in the 90s with mules and I just can't go back!
