Yay or Nay: Cords

I'm not sure where corduroy pants (or now, just called "cords") went between the time I was in middle school and fall 2011, but it seems every e-mail newsletter I receive is touting how "in" they are this season.

The sleeker, skinnier form they've taken on is certainly a far cry from what my friends and I donned in the 90s. And they're even farther from the impossibly cool wide-leg, forest green pair (*shudder*) I nearly wore out as a kid.

The evidence:

The verdict: If there's one benefit to the difficulty of pants shopping as a result of being short in stature, it's that I don't feel obligated to go buy these and can use my "woe is me, finding pants is so hard" excuse as an out. I think there are some fairly decent pairs (I actually don't mind the ones above) and, when styled correctly, are a great look on so many for the fall and winter months. But the painstaking effort of buying bottoms, for me, will be put into pieces that I'm happy to get tailored knowing they'll be a part of my wardrobe for a while.

What do you think? Will you be wearing cords this season?

  1. Way too many middle school flashbacks, I'll pass!

  2. These cords look much better than what I use to wear. HAHA Cords are ok, but I don't jump over hurdles to buy them. I have a couple of corduroy jackets. Pants are hard to fit! Have a great weekend!

  3. Wow, I absolutely love the rust-colored ones. I want some!

  4. I'd pass on these, especially since they're usually unconventional colors and only go well with plain shirts. They do, however, look great with heels!

  5. Yay! I've always been a believer of cords.
