When it comes to fashion week(s), I can certainly appreciate a designer's artistic vision, their inspiration, and the desired look each creator hopes to achieve. After all, dozens if not hundreds of people work year round for a runway show that lasts a matter of minutes. I've always admired when designers try something different or strive for shock value, but more often than not I'm drawn to the collections that I feel are truly "ready to wear."
Dries Van Noten's Spring 2011 line that debuted in Paris on Sept. 29 is definitely one of those collections that has this appeal to me (though there are many more). The best way I can describe the collection is "easy," and it speaks directly to what I would consider my personal style. Blazers, dress pants, and the white button-down shirt served as the foundation for the collection to create a classic, timeless vibe with just a hint of modern flair. The colors and fabrics enhanced the ability for these pieces to transcend seasons as creams, whites, grays, and other neutrals showed up in silks, satins, and cottons.
