When it comes to doing my hair in the summer, I tend to stick to simple styles. Because of the heat and the humidity, I'll usually opt for loose, beachy waves that I can achieve with a little bit of product and a whole lot of air drying (or just a few minutes with my hair dryer). It's rare that you'll see my hair straight during the summer mostly because, well, the humidity gets the best of my natural wave and it tends to fall flat and look greasy in minutes after stepping outside.

But sometimes I miss being able to straighten my hair. Especially when I wear a sleek outfit like the one above! So when the weather takes a break and is more of a dry heat sans a chance of rain, I take full advantage. And that's where the GHD styler comes in!

I've never had a straightener that makes my hair so sleek and shiny on the first pass! And we all know how great this is because excessive and continuous heat on your hair can do some serious damage. But this one makes it easy for me to straighten (on a cooler day!) and head out the door. It's also great for creating loose waves -- ideal for traveling since you only have to bring one tool to straighten or curl. I'm still working on mastering that technique, though, and promise to share when I finally get it down!

On another note, now is a good time to snatch up this white faux leather vest. It's such a versatile piece that I know I'll be wearing year round!
