Today we're talking formal events! I don't normally attend a ton of these...if it's once a year it's a lot! But somehow two black tie affairs have found their way on to my calendar in the coming weeks...and are only seven days apart! The husband finally bought a tux and since I don't have an arsenal of fancy schmancy dresses, the only logical thing to do was go shopping, right? Right!
If you've been following along for a while, you probably know that I'm drawn to very simple silhouettes and patterns. While I love me a good floral or animal print, I usually end up with something a bit more simple and classic. The same goes for my taste in evening gowns. I always suggest getting creative with the style or color of a dress rather than something you may or may not like a year from now. And since it's easy to drop some serious dimes on formalwear, it's best to pick something you know you'll want to wear again!
The gowns above are all perfect examples of how a neckline or color can completely change the look and feel of a dress. And to be honest, I'd wear any of these to any formal event - aren't they all simply stunning?! Kinda makes me wish I had more fancy occasions to get all dolled up for!
XO,
Alison

I'm attending a formal wedding this weekend and if I didn't already have a dress, that purple one is just calling me.
ReplyDeleteI've had more than one person tell me I should just buy a formal dress to keep in my closet, "just in case something comes up last minute." In theory that sounds like a good idea, but honestly who doesn't use a fancy event as a reason to go shopping? I made a deal with the hubs that the Christian Louboutins he bought me for my birthday would be on my feet for all future occasions, so I guess I've got the shoes picked out already and that's a decent start :)
