"Florals for spring...groundbreaking." - Miranda Priestly
First of all, if you don't know who Miranda Priestly is, then stop reading this immediately and go watch "The Devil Wears Prada." Or, at the very least, this clip. It's easily one of the best movies. Ever.
Second, even in all her snarkiness, she definitely had it right that florals are one of the most obvious spring trends. But they're also one of my favorite! With all the fresh colors we see as the flowers and trees start to bloom, you can't help but want that to translate to your wardrobe!
What makes this such a great trend season after season is that it's so wearable. Unlike some prints, florals work on anyone because they vary so greatly. You can go for a lot or a little, subtle or bold. They're also the perfect transitional pattern. It's easy to layer up but still appear to be warm weather ready during those awkward weeks when no one has a clue what to wear. Like today, when I woke up to a few inches of snow.
I'm also loving the pattern mixing possibilities. I don't tend to go too crazy when it comes to combining prints, but stripes (which I obviously love) and florals go together so effortlessly! It's a great place to start if you're interesting in trying out some new looks this Spring.
Happy Tuesday! And happy two year anniversary to the most amazing husband a girl could ask for ;)
XO,
Alison
