Reader request: Friday night wedding

I received a message recently from an old friend in a panic - she had a wedding to go halfway across the country with nothing to wear. Not only was I surprised to find out she's a loyal reader of this here blog, but she was hoping to get my advice. Never one to turn down a fashion challenge, I told her I'd try to put together some easy last minute looks.

I love both of these looks because they are truly simple. Any variation on either is both classic and classy, as well as appropriate for a Friday night wedding. Especially when the weather can be so unpredictable on the East Coast this time of year.
