Living room makeover with Havenly -- The reveal

To say this post has been a long time coming is an understatement. Especially given that it's actually been a year since I shared the inspiration and concepts behind my living room design process with Havenly! (You can get a refresher on all that in this post.) I've admitted before that interior decorating does not come easy to me. I have serious commitment issues and it takes me an obnoxiously long time to decide I like something because I want to make sure I'll love it for more than 6 months. So the process was slow and deliberate, but I'm really happy with the finished product and that I finally get to share it with you!

I knew from the start that I wanted our living room to be beautiful but practical. I have a toddler who has an ever-growing toy collection and a love for burying people in couch pillows. We also like to entertain and almost never skip a Sunday pasta night with extended family. That meant storage, easy-to-maintain pieces and plenty of places to sit. My Havenly designer, Julianne, totally nailed it! From the baskets that look super chic but are really hiding puzzles and coloring books to the extra arm chairs and slip-covered sofa (thank heavens for bleach), it's truly the space that I dreamed up.

The overall aesthetic is white, bright, clean and elegant. The navy blue elements keep it from feeling too crisp or sterile, and I love how the wood and other natural elements give it a warm, home-y touch. I love that it's simple without being over the top and that I have the option to swap things out when in case I get the urge to mix things up.

The best part of the whole process was that it helped me to think outside the box in terms of what goes well together. Different textures, styles and elements really can play well with each other, a concept my type A brain sometimes has a hard time wrapping itself around. But I can honestly say I now look at home decor in a totally different light thanks to Havenly!
