Happy Friday + Link love

1. No one would blame you if you picked up these loafers in all three colors. They're so on point for spring and the price is too good to pass up!

2. If you haven't heard, Piperlime is shutting down at the end of March. So what's a girl to do? Take a moment, shed a tear, and then start strategizing. I'd begin by browsing their already impressive sale section, and then make notes of the things you might want to snag later on. I have my eye on these Weitzmans!

3. In case you were wondering, this moisturizer totally lives up to the hype and, in my opinion, is so worth the price. Life = changed. Full blog post coming soon!

4. Target just nailed it when it comes to booties for spring. I can't decide between these and these.

5. I ordered this cardigan earlier this week and I'm thinking it miiiiight be the best $25 I've ever spent.

Flannel: Rails c/o PB&J Boutique || Tee: Current/Elliott || Jeans: American Eagle || Booties: Zara (similar here) || Bag: Forever 21 || Beanie: Forever 21

When it comes to an easy, comfortable look, I tend to stick to the basics. In addition to this tee that I've been wearing non-stop, I'm a huge fan of buttery soft plaid flannels that I can wear either tucked in or open. Rails makes theeee best ones and I'm absolutely obsessed with how cozy they are. The one I'm wearing was a gift from the adorable online store PB&J Boutique, which actually carries a bunch of my favorites. This one is high on my want list (because it's black and white, duh), and I'm also loving the idea of lighter pastel combos for spring and summer. All paired with my favorite ripped jeans, of course, which are buy one get one 50% off right now!

Happy almost Friday!

Tuesday Temptations: Snow day essentials

Snow day essentials

If you live anywhere in the Northeast, you're probably waking up to snow so high that not even your Hunter rain boots will be tall enough to trek through it. Compared to New York and Boston, we're being spared here in D.C., but all this blizzard talk is enough to make anyone want to curl up on the couch, drink hot chocolate and binge watch both seasons of "House of Cards" on Netflix. In which case, it's a perfect opportunity to share my snow day essentials!

When it comes to lounging at home during the winter, or any other time really, comfort is the name of the game. For one, I'm always in a pair of cozy socks -- see my Instagram for evidence -- or slippers. I absolutely hate when my feet are cold, so I always have to have something on. I actually just splurged on these and wear them constantly because they're so comfy and warm! I also keep my clothing loose and soft. Almost as soon as I walk in the door, my hair goes up, the skinny jeans come off and are replaced by sweats and a loose-fitting top. For extra warmth, I usually toss on a sweatshirt, but I'm trying to up my game lately. Which is why this cardigan would be perfect.

If there's one thing I can't get enough of, though, it's throw blankets. I actually kind of hoard them and literally have to stop myself from buying them when I go into Home Goods or TJ Maxx (the ones they have are all so cute!). My mother-in-law got me one similar to this faux fur version for Christmas and I'm obsesseddddd. I love keeping them by the couch or on the end of our bed for when I get cold.

I'd love to hear about some of your favorite items for cozying up at home! Stay warm and safe, babes!

Sweater: Forever 21 || Long sleeve tee || Jeans: American Eagle || Boots: Forever 21 (similar) || Purse: Michael Kors || Sunglasses: Ray-Ban || Necklace: ℅ Three Jane (similar) || Ring:Dogeared

If it weren't for the fact that I have to venture out in public on weekends, I'd probably stay in sweats the whole time. Just like they're days off from work, I kinda look at Saturday and Sunday as days off from getting dressed. Not like actually getting dressed, because I definitely still wear clothes, but like a break from putting on anything that requires a ton of effort.

That being said, a girl's still gotta look good! Which is why I love easy, comfortable looks like this one. I've honestly been living in this sweater. So much so that it's currently (finally!) in the laundry because I'm pretty sure it has at least two different types of vegetables on it from baby feedings gone rogue. It's so soft and I love cozying up in it at home, at work, or while running errands. And for only $22 (!!!) it's worth picking up in all four colors!

I hope you had a fab weekend!

Happy Friday + Link love

-Remember that time I accidentally washed my favorite white v-neck with a black shirt and turned it into a splotchy blue and white mess? Worst. So now that I'm back to square one in my search for the perfect white tee, I'm once again debating this splurge.

-If you love coffee and you love clothes, then this will probably be your favorite new Instagram account as well.

-My search continues for a pair of black over the knee boots. I love these, but the bargain shopper in me just can't bring myself to pull the trigger. This pair is pretty similar and, even though they're still a bit pricey, might be worth the investment.

-Still looking for theeeee Zara blanket scarf from last year? You know which one I'm talking about. You can find it here.

-Our lease is up at the end of next month, so we might be moving again. Or we might not. Either way, all this home searching is making me want to redecorate. On the top of my list is a new headboard and this coffee table.

-I took this quiz and my result was "a blazer." Most accurate assessment of my daily though process ever? Probably.

Coat: Zara (similar here, here and here) || Pants: Rag & Bone || Booties: Forever 21 (similar here, get the real deal here) || Beanie: Topshop || Purse: Forever 21 (love this one) || Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

While I can appreciate (and am totally guilty of) doing the whole cute coat draped over the shoulders thing, sometimes it's just not practical. Or warm. Which is why most of the time, you'll find me bundled up in this parka that I finally caved in and asked for this Christmas. Especially when there's snow in the forecast and I have to face walking further than a block in DC. I ordered the one I'm wearing from Zara on Black Friday. It doesn't look like it's available online anymore, but I'd definitely recommend checking the store. They have a crazy good sale section right now that I may or may not have been perusing last week. Or you can shop similar ones here, here and here.

I should also mention that this is my absolute favorite beanie. I tried it on at the Topshop store before Christmas, but ended up walking away -- only to find myself still thinking about it days later and then ordering it online. I was looking for a neutral color like this one, but it also comes in green, burgundy, and white.

Lastly, if you're in the DC area, I hope you already got your tickets for tonight's Blogger Scene event! If not, you can snag them here. Make sure to come say hi :)

Tuesday Temptations

Tuesday Temptations

One || Two || Three || Four || Five || Six || Seven || Eight || Nine

First of all, I know it's not Tuesday. But I'm so off with my days this week because of the holiday, so we're just gonna go with it.

Second, what I really should've called this post was "and then I found gold and white Ray-Ban aviators and d-i-e-d." I'm a known aviator hoarder, and I'm always talking about my next sunglasses purchase…but these are seriously it. There are no words for how good they are. Can't you picture wearing them on hot summer days with a messy topknot? Or even now, with a neutral winter white outfit? I don't know how I've been living without knowing they existed.

Other things on my immediate wish list (other than everything above) is that top. I surprised myself recently when I tried a similar one on in Nordstrom and was suddenly switched on to the idea of a crop top in winter. I'm even thinking of picking one up for Fashion Week if I can build up the courage!

Sweater:JCPenney || Moto leggings: Forever 21 || Heels: Christian Louboutin || Purse: Target || Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

My obsession with faux leather leggings was taken to a whole new level when I found these pants. Sometimes I'm too short for the moto style because it sits on my knee rather than above it (see also: any pants that have ankle zippers), but these ended up being perfect. I've been wearing them non-stop and with everything I can think of. My favorite is with oversized, slouchy knits. I guess I just love the contrast between something super cozy and something a little bit tougher. They're also more like pants rather than leggings, which means I don't feel like I'm wearing a thin sheet of paper on my legs when it's super cold. They're currently on major sale, and you can also snag similar pairs here and here.

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Friday + Link love

1. Another day, another beanie. At what point does it become an actual problem?

2. Wine ice cream is now a thing, you guys. It's like the gods heard the prayers of women everywhere.

3. I'm kinda on a sneaker kick right now. I got this pair for Christmas and have been wearing them non-stop. I especially love pairing them with faux leather leggings a la this fab street style look. Not to mention they're like...good for your feet and stuff. Which is not the norm for this heel-loving girl. I'm even thinking about picking up another pair. Maybe these?

4. Aren't these candles just the cutest things!? The pineapple is my favorite, but I feel like I need one of each. They'd also make great gifts!

5. I made this chicken alfredo last weekend and it is seriously tah die for. You make everything in one pot so it's super easy and cuts down on the mess. It also didn't take that long to make, which is a major bonus. It's probably not the healthiest of meals given the heavy cream, cheese and pasta situation, but you can have a salad one day next week to make up for it. I promise, it's worth it!

6. Barney's is having a ridiculously good sale right now. I don't shop there normally -- because money -- but they have some really great pieces that are majorly marked down. Definitely worth taking a look!

Dress: Allison Parris c/o Rent the Runway || Heels: Christian Louboutin || Clutch: Similar || Earrings: Tova c/o Rent the Runway || Hair by Sue at W Salon

The weekend before Christmas, I got to attend one of my favorite holiday events -- the District Gala. This was the third time I've been lucky enough to go and be one of the best dressed judges. It's always so fun to get dolled up, maybe have a glass (or three or four) of champs, and party like it's 2014.

This year, Rent the Runway's new store in Georgetown agreed to take my formal wear game up a level and let me borrow this Allison Parris stunner. Truth time: I've never been a fan of tulle. But when I put this dress on (it was the very first one I tried out of like, 47 others) I fell in love. It was so beautiful and elegant, but the black made it feel a bit more edgy...totally my style. I actually felt a little like Cinderella at the end of the night when I got home and swapped it out for sweats. Mom life, you guys!

And thank heavens for W Salon. I've been going there for a few years now after meeting Sue at a blogger event where she promised to give me the "Victoria's Secret Angel haircut" I couldn't seem to get anywhere else. Girlfriend did not disappoint, and I only trust my locks to her now. For the Gala, I asked her for a slightly undone but sleek 'do where all my hair was kinda slicked to one side. Especially so that I could let my earrings make the statement. As always, she killed it. The moral of that story: if you're in the DC area and need a new salon, now you know where to go.

Oh, and I should probably mention that I had every intention of bringing my camera -- and then accidentally left it home. Mostly because a DSLR does not fit in a clutch and -- as a life rule for most things -- if it doesn't fit in whatever bag I'm using, it usually ends up getting left behind. But I still wanted to share some pics with you so I hope you'll excuse the shoddy iPhone quality. I just really wanted to share!

Tuesday Temptations: Wants and needs

Tuesday Temptations: Wants and needs

One || Two || Three || Four || Five || Six || Seven || Eight || Nine

I'm a little all over the place with this week's roundup. Some things I actually need -- like a new daily moisturizer. I've been using the same one for years. Like, since high school. It's not very expensive, but it does the trick. And every time I near the end of a jar, I'm reminded that it's probably time for a change...only to end up buying the same one. Because lazy. I'm considering investing in this one since I've heard nothing but amazing things. But the price is throwing me off. Have you tried it? Or, do you have any other suggestions?

On the list of pure wants, I'm absolutely drooling over this two tone jacket. I mean, gray with white leather sleeves? Where do I sign up? And we won't even talk about that bag. It's not even a consideration right now, but a girl can dream.

Straddling the line between need and want, however, are those black booties. I'm in desperate need of a new every day pair and these are serious contenders. Then you have that cross body bag, which at less than $30 -- and with such a high end look -- is so worth picking up. Both would be perfect Fashion Week purchases, don't you agree ;)

Happy Monday, babes! I feel like last week was just a warm up for really getting back into the swing of things. Don't you? But today is not messing around. My to do list is a million miles long and I'm finally motivated enough to tackle it!

And look who's making another appearance on the blog! She was just too cute in that hat and loved being wrapped up in this blanket scarf. Speaking of, I'm giving it away! It's one of my favorites from Zara's collection this past season and has since sold out. But I've snagged an extra one for you ;) Head over to my Instagram for all the details and to enter!
