Gladiator sandals for summer 2014

One of the reasons I love having this blog as a creative outlet is because it lets me hash out feelings I have on certain trends. Sometimes when I post about them, I'm still not sure if it's something I want to get on board with or not. It's kinda like talking out loud, except I'm not talking only to myself. I hope ;)

Anyway, today I'm pondering gladiator sandals. They've been hanging around for a few seasons, but will be a full-on trend for summer 2014 -- thanks a lot in part to these Stuart Weitzman beauties. I've seen them pop up on bloggers and non-bloggers alike in parts of the country where it's actually warm/dry enough to wear sandals already (yes, those places exist) and I'm very slowly getting on board with the idea of owning a pair.

Of course, there are things to consider. Most importantly my height. I tend to think they look best on those who are above five feet (aka the majority of the adult population, but not me), so finding the right pair might prove to be a challenge. Simplicity might also be key, and opting for a less "busy" pair might be best for someone with a shorter stature. Either way, I don't hate the idea of snatching up a pair that I can find for a steal. Here are 14 of my favorite pairs:

So now I throw it out to you. What are your thoughts on gladiator sandals and would you wear them?

xoxo,
Alison

  1. We love gladiator style, just not sure if we can get on board with the half leg gladiator. Great thing about fashion is you never know until you try! Haven't tried them so we still have an open mind about it! Can't wait to see if you take the plunge.

  2. I like gladiator sandals that are ankle height, but I don't think I could wear these myself. I'm sure on some people they look great, but you definitely have to have that style and be confident wearing them to be able to pull it off!

  3. I am still on the fence. I love the traditional gladiator sandals but I think you need skinny skinny legs to pull these off and I just can't do it.

  4. As a fellow nugget, I'm not a fan. I feel like they make me look stumpy. I wanted a pair a few years ago until I tried them on and ended up getting a pair of sandals with a gladiator look that didn't wrap up around my leg.
