I tend to keep my lipstick pretty tame throughout the year, but there's something about fall that makes me want to swipe on rich, bold shades. And while I usually reserve a statement lip for going out or special occasions, the cooler temperatures inspire me to rock a plum or berry pout even if I'm just running errands on the weekend.
No matter which shade you try -- and I do recommend testing out a bunch to find the best match for your skin tone! -- make sure to balance out your look accordingly. If you go for a dramatic smokey eye, try a more subdued lip with a shade of taupe, nude or a subtle red stain. I also like pairing a deep plum with more natural makeup and big lashes.

ReplyDeleteI mostly wear red/coral lipsticks but this year I am madly in love with Dior's 'Addict Extreme' Lipstick in Bone Ave, it's the best plum color I've ever seen and the lipstick is just amazing.
I love going for darker hues come the cooler months -- after that tan fades, I definitely need a little pop of color to feel put together :) I've been looking for the perfect plum hue, but haven't quite found it yet...
