DIY: Glitter cap toe flats

Exactly two weeks ago, I included these as one of my Tuesday Temptations. I mean, glitter cap toe flats? Perfection! But the price tag...not so much.

Not being super crafty (though I have good intentions), a DIY project wasn't the first thing that came to mind. But when a "you can totally do that" moment hit me like a ton of bricks, I knew I had to try it out! And let me give you fair warning. This is so easy you're going to think that I've insulted your intelligence by making a step-by-step guide!

As soon as I made up my mind, I immediately began my search for the perfect pair of inexpensive flats (ones that I wouldn't be too upset about ruining) and found these online at Target for $20. They're a bit different than the Giuseppe Zanottis, but I'm totally loving how the smoking flat look makes it even more unique.

So! On to what you'll need:

-Flats
-Tape
-Glue
-Brush
-Glitter

Step 1: Tape off the area you'll be covering with glitter to create the cap toe.

Step 2: Brush on the glue. I suggest a clear tacky glue.

Step 3: Sprinkle on the glitter.

Step 3a: These flats happened to have an adorable little strip down the back that I thought would be fun to put glitter on as well. Because can you really have too much? The answer is no. You can't.

Step 4: Allow to dry.

Step 5: Peel off the tape and wear!

See, I told you it was simple! The whole project took me all of 15 minutes to complete and the results are a fun and unique pair of flats! And you can be as creative as you want with the color combos (the flats I used also come in teal) and designs. One thing I would suggest, however, is that the shoes be suede, as I think the added texture helps the glue adhere better.

And that's it! And all for less than $30! I can definitely see myself doing this again to other pairs of shoes in the future. A pair of pointy pumps would be awesome with a glitter toe! Or even ombre glitter. Oooh...the possibilities are endless!

What do you think? Will you be DIY-ing your shoes anytime soon?
