Yay or Nay: Penny loafers

I'd like to think I can keep my thoughts and opinions about fashion open and honest here since, well, this is my blog. Ha! And part of developing your own personal style means that you don't always have to love what's being offered up as a trend for any particular season.

Take for example the penny loafer. Cousin to the oxford flat, this menswear-inspired look has seen its rise and fall in popularity from decade to decade and is back with a vengeance this fall. But my question is: are they a must-have or is this something we'll look back on in a few years and say "eh, not so much"?

The verdict: They're not awful, but not a must-have in terms of necessary fall purchases. There's definitely a list - a very, very, very long list - of pieces I'd much rather invest in and am happy to leave this look to others when it comes to fall footwear.
