Blasted

I've been wanting to try the crackle nail trend for a while now but, to be honest, haven't been interested enough to spend the money on something I may or may not like. So when a friend offered to let me borrow hers earlier this week, I jumped at the chance to try it.

She had bought Sephora by OPI in the very sparkly Blasted Gold, which I paired with Sally Hansen Salon Nail Lacquer in Navy Baby.

Sephora by OPI Blasted Nail Colour in Blasted Gold. Buy here.

Sally Hansen Salon Nail Lacquer in Navy Baby. See similar here.

(Side note: I haven't been able to find this line of nail polish anywhere since I bought this one a few years ago and think it might be discontinued. Sad face. If I'm wrong and someone knows where I can find it, please let me know!)

Anywho, here is the result:

The jury is still out on how I feel about the look. Maybe I should've had a lighter/more summery base coat, but went dark because I wanted the full effect. Or maybe I need another "crackle" color altogether. One that's darker and can be paired with a light base coat, perhaps.

Have you tried this trend? What are your favorite color combos?

  1. I found that the silver and gold crackle polish doesn't work as well. I have black, white, and pink and they work really well! White as a base color looks good with all the crackle colors.
